Treasure Thomas ’18: Multifaceted Artist & Businesswoman

Say Hello to the multifaceted Treasure Thomas! Treasure is a 2018 Denison alumna who graduated with a bachelors in Cinematography. During her time at Denison, Treasure found herself being involved in a myriad of things, such as, Sisters in Dialogue, Black student union, gospel choir and Agape Christian fellowship. On top of being a scholar and a highly involved student, Treasure also managed to maintain jobs across campus by working in the cinema house, the copy center and the Mitchell Center.

As a creative, Treasure found herself working at a non-profit media company in Portland Oregon immediately after Denison. By implementing her cinematography skills and interpersonal skills, Treasure was able to secure an opportunity to shoot a movie and was later promoted to social media director where she then fell in love with the art of marketing. Treasure is now the digital marketing coordinator for Squire Patton Boggs, an international law firm. There, she is able to maintain the social media presence of the partners and attorneys and think of innovative ways to improve their blogs/websites in order to garner more traffic.

Not only does Treasure possess a creative mind, she also possesses a savviness for entrepreneurial pursuits. Treasure is a businesswoman who combined her passion for cinema with entrepreneurship. During the 2020 pandemic, she took it upon herself to create her own marketing studio called Luminous Treasures where she does blended social media marketing for over 80 small businesses, entrepreneurs, and content creators. Treasure also created a wedding photography business, also titled Luminous Treasures- Weddings where she does photography for couples, specifically weddings and engagement shoots.

Despite earning a degree in cinematography, Treasure took the initiative to both follow her passions and blend them with other disciplines. For Treasure, “my hobby turned into my passion, and then my passion turned into my career.” With this in mind, Treasure advises Denison students to do what is best for them, not what they think is “right” or will make someone else happy, put themselves out there, and don’t use their age as a determining factor of where they “should” be, because it is never too late!
