Media Relations Intern

The Media Relations Intern is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working side by side with professionals from all levels and potions at US Sailing. In this role you will work with the communications team to drive engagement and growth, you will play a critical role in shaping US Sailing’s story and amplifying our external communications. What you’ll be doing:

· Coordinate personal media for United States Olympic Sailing Team athletes

· Interface with media outlets outside of the Sailing realm

· Craft pitches and media alerts

· Pitch specific athletes to other sports-focused publications

· Create social advertisements

Who you are:

· Possess strong written communication skills

· Experience in journalism and public relations preferred

· Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and be process oriented

· Ability to prioritize work, follow through on requests, take initiative and meet deadlines

· Media-savvy with knowledge of the news industry

· Experienced with creating relevant content for social media, namely Instagram

· Self-Starter that takes the initiative to ask questions

· Ability to apply knowledge learned in classroom to work

· Belief in the Olympic movement

· Appreciation for the sport of sailing
