Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank. As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.
Our Investment Banking Division will be hiring interns in two groups: Debt Capital Markets and Financial Sponsors Group.
INVESTMENT BANKING- CAPITAL MARKETS
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Capital Markets works with clients to raise debt capital for event driven opportunities such as acquisitions, major capital expenditure projects, working capital, dividend recaps and management buyouts.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
These interns will assist analysts and associates with research, preparation of materials, investor communication, organizing and completing conference call and bank meeting logistics and the coordination of credit facility between the client, relationship team, agency loan services, borrower’s counsel, and agent’s counsel. Other projects may include further developing the groups investor database.
INVESTMENT BANKING- FINANCIAL SPONSORS GROUP
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Financial Sponsors Group works with Private Equity firms to raise debt capital at the Portfolio Company level for event driven opportunities such as acquisitions, major capital expenditure projects, working capital, dividend recaps and management buyouts, while also overseeing the Leveraged Loan portfolio across M&T’s Commercial Bank.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
These interns will assist Analysts and Vice Presidents with research of Private Equity firms fundraising and fund performance, preparation of initial credit screening materials, organizing and completing business development and ongoing diligence discussions, and the assist in the coordination of credit facilities between the client, Debt Capital Markets, borrower’s counsel, and agent’s counsel. Other projects may include further developing the group’s Private Equity Sponsor database.
Education and Experience Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Work Visa Sponsorship not offered for this role
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Rising Senior or Master’s Candidate
- Preferred major(s): Finance, or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
