Plugins are an important part of the WordPress site-building experience, so it’s important to understand how, when, and why to use plugins in your WordPress site-building process. In this beginner-level course, Allie Nimmons starts with the basics—what a plugin is, where you can find plugins, how plugins work in the WordPress file structure. She then shows you how to start working with plugins, including how to install them, how to deactivate and remove plugins, and how to safely update and maintain plugins. Allie then shows you how to build a site with plugins, detailing different types of plugins you can use across your site, from development plugins to maintenance plugins to marketing plugins. After sharing some tips on troubleshooting plugins, Allie finished the course by showing you how to create your own plugins—both simple and complex—and submit them to the WordPress plugin repository.
