Internship Spotlight: Cameron McIntosh ’25, Commercial and Industrial Sales Intern

Meet Cameron McIntosh ’25, a dynamic Global Commerce major who spent his summer as a Commercial and Industrial Sales Intern at IGS Energy in Dublin, Ohio. Cameron’s Denison journey is enriched by his involvement in various campus activities, including Varsity Men’s Soccer, the Red Frame Lab Consulting Program, and the Delta Chi Fraternity.

At IGS Energy, Cameron quickly immersed himself in the sales process, taking on responsibilities that were crucial to the company’s success. He generated leads, met with potential clients, and even closed deals, all while collaborating with management to develop pricing analyses, presentations, and energy budget forecasts. This hands-on experience not only enhanced his sales skills but also provided a clear insight into the workings of the energy sector.

Reflecting on how this internship influenced his career direction, Cameron expressed newfound confidence in his professional path. “This experience taught me a lot about what to look for in a full-time role,” he said. “Working in a client-facing position is important for me because I love the constant human interaction. More generally, I want to work for a company that values their employees and has a great culture and atmosphere, just like IGS.”

Cameron also offered valuable advice for future interns: “Be a sponge. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and say that you do not understand something. This is your time to learn and take in as much as possible from the amazing people you have around you.” He also emphasized the importance of building relationships, suggesting that interns set up informal meetings over lunch or coffee with colleagues.

Beyond his internship, Cameron has leveraged tools like Forage, a platform that offers job simulations across various industries. He found these simulations beneficial for gaining a realistic understanding of what work life looks like, further aiding his career exploration. With his proactive approach and eagerness to learn, Cameron McIntosh is well on his way to making a significant impact in the world of commerce.
