Introducing the Peer Career Fellows: Maya Thornton ’26

The Social Impact, Education, & Government Career Community has two new wonderful additions to our student staff for the 2024-2025 school year. Below is a welcome and intro do Maya Thornton ’26, who will be coaching, blogging, planning events, and generating career content for students across campus interested in social impact, education, and government careers.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Maya Thornton, and I’m a junior from Cleveland, Ohio. I’m majoring in Psychology and Data Analytics here at Denison. I’m also a Peer Fellow for the Social Impact, Education, & Government team at the Knowlton Center. In addition to this role, I work at the Office of First-Year Experience, consult with the Red Frame Lab, and conduct research with Professor Bikmen in the Psychology department.

I’m thrilled to be part of the Social Impact, Education, & Government team, not only to meet all of you but also to offer valuable resources that can help you thrive in your careers and beyond, both at Denison and elsewhere.

This past summer, I completed a calculus course at Cleveland State University, continued my research from the previous school year, and worked at a summer camp with two-year-old children.

Whether you’re just starting your journey at the Knowlton Center or you’ve visited before, I look forward to connecting with you and being one of the many resources that make Denison a great place. Feel free to reach out to me at thornt_m1@denison.edu if you have any questions!
