4 ways to utilize your winter break for career success!

Winter break is upon us, and there is no better time to plan for your future! Outlined below are a few things that you can do throughout the break if you are looking to plan your summer or any other future endeavors.

  1. Conduct informational interviewing with alumni

This can be especially helpful if you are still unsure what career you want to pursue, or if you just have general questions about the pathway that it takes to get there. Reach out to a few alumni in fields that interest you. The Denison University page on LinkedIn is a great place to start when searching for alumni currently working in your career interest.

  1. Start applying for summer internships

There is no better time than winter break to start applications for summer internships. A lot of application deadlines are around when spring semester classes start, so utilize some of the time without classes to get ahead. Linked below are a few resources to help get you started.

  1. Update your resume

Speaking of applications, you can also use break time to make sure your resume is up-to-date and ready to send to potential employers. Knowlton Connect has a list of resources that you can use to write your resume. There is also 1:1 coaching available throughout break.

  1. Take advantage of the winter break programs offered through the Knowlton Center

The Knowlton Center is offering in-person and virtual programs throughout the duration of winter break. As someone who participated in the Journey Program this past summer, I highly recommend it for anyone who is still undecided about their future plans.
